Welcome to the award winning Air Force JROTC Unit MS-781! Each school year, the corps of
cadets is recognized as a “Distinguished Unit” by Headquarters Air Force JROTC. Following
the formal unit inspection last school year, the program scored 100% earning the “Distinguished
Unit with Merit” designation! As a program, AFJROTC unit MS-781 is described by the Air
Force Regional Director as the “Powerhouse” program on the gulf coast.
AFJROTC Unit MS-781 is led by two instructors, Lt Colonel Philip Byrd and Master Sgt Karen
Chachere who have over 60 years of Air Force experience. Both instructors earned the
“Outstanding Instructor Award” from HQ AFJROTC commander, Colonel Matthew Tipton,
Director of AFJROTC headquartered at Maxwell AFB, AL!
